A brush with the law!
02.16.07 (11:13 am)   [edit]

One night last weekend, while driving teenagers from the footy to a party, I happened to glance into my rear vision mirror, & to my dismay saw the flashing coloured lights of a police car!

Australian police car

They look more impressive than that when they're flashing, actually.

I thought that for the first time in my life I was going to be breathalysed!

(Translation:  to be breathalysed is to undergo a random breath test, to check if I was driving after consuming an illegal amount of alcohol.)

Luckily I don't drink, so I had nothing to fear except awkwardness.

The policeman, when approaching my car, flicked out his baton!

I said " H e l l o,   O f f i c e r " in my best porn star voice* ...

... because

... as I had suspected, he was one of my favourites of the local constabulary, pulling me over for a lark!  hehe

He's good looking, with a beautiful smile, big muscles, & a great sense of humour - plus he's intelligent, & very well educated!

If we weren't married, & I was a decade younger & several sizes smaller, I might be in a position to take advantage of all the above!  :-)

*  my family accuse me of speaking in a porn star voice on the 'phone - how embarrassing!

LOL. Porn star voice - my boss tells me I sound too much like a little girl and no one takes me seriously as a consequence. I'd rather sound like a porn star though, I'm thinking it has advantages :)

I've never had the pleasure of being stopped by anyone even remotely good looking.

Yes, I've noticed my teenage daughter speaking in a cutesy voice when she's speaking to her 'superiors' from work, on the 'phone. She thinks it's necessary, a bit like 'kissing a**' I suppose! I did find, when working in sales, that if I sounded 'cheery' on the 'phone I received a better reaction than otherwise.

Mimi, it just comes naturally, so I was shocked when I was first accused of using a porn star voice!
Of course, under the circumstances, I couldn't resist putting it on a little last weekend, hehe. Had I not had three teenage girls in the car, the conversation might have lasted longer.
The "footy" was rugby league football.

ggirl, our town has been truly blessed. Until recently we had three absolute spunks patrolling our streets, two of them my friends, & the other, who has gone, was an acquaintance.

It is a heart pounding experience, which I have known several times, to be pulled over by the police. For me, it is usually for speeding. And my very best porn-star voice does not help. You are blessed immensely to be friends with the locals. That will serve you well, no doubt.

You rev head you, Pastor Dave! If I ever go over the speed limit, it's only be accident, & I've never been pulled over in my life, apart from just for fun, the other night.

I'm glad it was only for a lark. He sounds really handsome from the way you describe him. :)
