RIP Anna Nicole Smith aka Vickie Lynn Hogan Smith Marshall
02.09.07 (12:50 pm)   [edit]

"An autopsy will be carried out tomorrow on former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith who has died after collapsing in a Florida hotel room." (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200702/ s1843929.htm" title="http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200702/ s1843929.htm" target="_blank"http://www.abc.net.au/news/ne...)

BornNovember 28, 1967
Houston, Texas, USA
DiedFebruary 8, 2007 (age 39)
Hollywood, Florida, USA

I let out a squeal this morning when I heard that Anna Nicole was dead.

According to Wikipedia:

"...While performing at Gigi's, a Houston strip club, in October 1991, Smith met elderly oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall and they began a relationship. During their two-year relationship, he reportedly lavished gifts on her and asked her to marry him several times.

On June 27, 1994, Smith, age 26, and Marshall, age 89, were married in Houston. This resulted in a great deal of gossip about her marrying him for his money. Though she reportedly never lived with him [3], Smith maintained she loved her husband and that age did not matter to her.

Thirteen months after his marriage to Smith, Marshall died on August 4, 1995, in Houston..."

I liked Anna Nicole.  She was an interesting character.  It's sad that she has gone, with so much in her life unresolved.

RIP Vickie Lynn.

It made me sad, too.

i don't know much about her--i just remember the hype when she married the old, old guy. people ragged on her for a while about that one, but i remember thinking at the time that, even if she's probably just marrying him for his cash, it was probably a fair trade. the old, old guy wasn't stupid. he made an adult decision, just as she did.

i can't say i feel very sad that she died, but i'll tell you what makes me very sad: watching the smug tv news reporters with their apologetic grins, chuckling half to themselves and half to their audiences when giving us the anna nicole lowdown. i say, news reporters, if you don't like her, at least show some frickin' respect. if you can't show some respect, then get yourself another story.

an untimely death is always sad and hers is compounded by the fact that she had an infant.

It's too bad that her life couldn't have been smoother but, I guess that's the price she paid for fame and fortune.

I wonder if she even wanted to live after her died.
May she RIP

If only she hired a (psychology) advisor, her life would of been much better and to know what to expect with alot of reasonings. It is sad that she (in her early life) died due to the fact that I heard she is very charming and outgoing, etc.

what makes me sad is that this happens on a daily basis to lots of people, yet, because anna nicole was a "star", she gets the (sometimes not nice) attention. and i understand grief, yet, she also has a new baby! how could she NOT want to live???? that baby deserves to have its mother! it's not even sure who her father is! now, that poor child has neither!

Yes taboo, it would have been a fair trade perhaps, if she received the money her husband promised her - but I'm not so sure that she did. :-(
Yes, I agree that people should speak of her with respect. If they don't, they are displaying their own character flaw.

Yes doeeyed, it must be so hard to carry on when a close loved one dies. Pregnancy & childbirth can take a toll on one's health, as can grief (& dieting, & some slimming products perhaps!) and the stress of disagreements & court cases.

I don't resent the attention the famous receive.

We can only grieve for those we know, or know of.

Mimi, maybe Anna Nicole loved life, maybe she did want to live, but perhaps we don't get to choose when we die?

I expect Anna Nicole knew who her baby's father was. Some people do make up scandalous stories to gain publicity. We all choose what we believe.
