Pastel Portrait - almost finished!
12.09.06 (5:48 pm)   [edit]

I've almost finished the pastel portrait!  I just need a pointy rubber tool to blend the lips, because that area is too small for my finger.

From this painting I have learnt not to go over teeth drawn with a lead (ie graphite) pencil with pastel, until I've erased enough of the pencil.

Progression of a pastel portrait - almost finished now!

I used five colours to make up her hair.

When painting one need to frequently stand the artwork up & look at it from a distance, to see what isn't right, & what needs to be done next.

looks like someone i would like and looks, by your description, like you are learning a lot about how to use your methods and tools...keep up the good work...perhaps, after showing the layers of the effort, you could now show us the finished product in one still photo for better evaluation. it is hard to decide what to say because the layers flash too quickly. xoxoxo

I don't know about art, but in tennis I figure a match is a win if you learn something. Great work! In my tiny bit of experience with art, pastels are my favorites. :-)

Hi seochris. I'm not sure what you mean by which software I used. Oh, to make the animation? I used Paint Shop Pro's Animation Shop, but I didn't do anything fancy with it, it's very basic. You can probably still download a free trial version of Paint Shop Pro at - oops I just looked & find that maybe you can't download a free trial of PSP including animation shop anymore? You could try searching at corel dot com.
