Mimi it was possibly a carpet snake, which is a non venomous python. It squeezes things to death. I suggest this because carpet snakes are patterned, & I can see a pattern in the shed skin.
We have many snakes in Australia, many venomous & very dangerous snakes, eg taipan & death adder. I grew up on a farm & so I saw many snakes during my childhood, & used to have nightmares of being surrounded by snakes.

Great photo of your son! As for the snake skin, ewwww! What a cute little guy the kangaroo is! It seems to be anyway. When I used to see raccoons on tv, I used to think the same thing. Then a couple moved into my backyard because they could eat my dog's food. They were not in the least bit intimidated by me and they were so fat that they had trouble turning their butts around when climbing down a tree. Not so cute in person!

Bonwynj - your talk of nightmares of snakes reminds me of my Grandmother. She had this one nightmare that involved snakes and it was her most terrifying dream of all. Yet, unlike you, she had no experiences with snakes. I wonder what it was about them that terrified her so?

Hi Lezah, it could be just instinct - or "Snakes symbolise problems and things that will bite us..." (the snakes may just be dream symbols for something else).
My camera is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P150 7.2 megapixel digital camera. It's a favourite toy.
