Found in my garden!
01.11.06 (9:09 am)   [edit]

Did you miss me?

I've been away a couple of times, for about two weeks in total, at the farms in south east Queensland, Australia, visiting family.

Look what has been found in my garden recently:

*  a cute baby rabbit found hiding in dry leaves

*  a big delicious mango, my favourite fruit!

By the way, I've added a contact form, some visitor comments, & lots of my favourite art links to my newish online art gallery, so please visit (click here) & let me know which paintings are your favourites, & why?  Thank-you!  :-)

Yes, so cute, but we aren't allowed to keep them as pets here in Queensland, Australia - so we just put him back where we found him.

Cute little bunny. I want one that stays tiny. I remember bringing a baby bunny home for my kids when they were little... it was so cute. Over the next five or six years that thing became a monster rabbit that seemed to poop it's own weight daily. We called him Bobby the Duck. No idea why.

You know what? You just killed that baby rabbit. Mother rabbits leave their babies in safe places while they get food. It might not seem a very safe place to us humans, in an open field and all, but the colour of the rabbit's fur acts as a camouflage, and open place with dry leaves in it is a safe place for baby rabbit. Baby rabbits don't run away, they will stay still even though they are scared.

Don't ever, ever, EVER touch a baby animal if you find one. They are most probably NOT abandoned. One thing is certain, though: if a mother can smell a human being in it's offspring, it will abandon its baby. And without its mother the baby will not survive.

Brim, if you're reading this: what an emotive response.
Please refrain from telling me what to do.
We did not think that the baby rabbit was abandoned.
I believe the rabbit was old enough and large enough to survive on its own.
It did move, after it was replaced.
It is illegal to keep rabbits as pets in Queensland, Australia.
The government releases virii to kill rabbits in Queensland.
