My time:

Tell me when this blog is updated

what is this?

Are you messy or neat?
07.28.07 (12:14 pm)   [edit]

"Birds of a feather flock together"

Meaning

Those of similar taste congregate in groups.

Origin

Proverbial. Known by the late 16th century and recorded by Philemon Holland, in a translation of Livy's Romane historie, 1600, in its original form:

"As commonly birds of a feather will flye together."

I found two nests while walking in my front yard yesterday afternoon.

This one was neat:

A neat nest

- & this one was messy:

A messy nest

What kind of nest would you have?

Here you can see my son's (early) 14th birthday present (not my idea):

dirtbike

He's already learnt how to do burn outs & jumps.

Obviously that doesn't work here, so I've put it at the bottom of my right column, check it out!

What butterfly is this?
07.20.07 (4:51 pm)   [edit]

I saw a butterfly in my front garden the other day which I have never seen before:

A butterfly with orange splotches

See how she casually looked at me while sucking nectar?!  I was following her around with the camera & she kept flitting from lantana flower to lantana flower, & even did a close fly past of my face at one stage, too.

Have you ever seen this kind of butterfly?

Scrabble success!
07.19.07 (10:41 pm)   [edit]

My parents are staying with us this week.  Whenever we get together, Mum & I play Scrabble.

Today, I won.

Scrabble - check out my word!

I used up all my tiles, used a Q, & had a double word score - 90 points, all up!

His new toy

My husband likes to drop in to the "King of Knives" shop, when we're in a nearby city.  We have a range of Furi knives from there, thanks to him, and his early birthday present is a very large Scanpan titanium wok!

We had stir fry two nights running after this purchase, courtesy of his enthusiastic culinary skills:

Stir fry in his new wok

This stir fry was chicken, ginger, and sesame, with lots of vegetables including cherry tomatoes, carrot, broccoli, and zucchini - very tasty.

I bought this for myself
07.08.07 (12:57 am)   [edit]

See what I bought for myself, at last:

My piano!

As you can see, it's a Yamaha.  It's only had one owner & was originally purchased in 1991.  I'm happy.  :-)

I wish I'd always had a piano, well, at least since I became a mother.  I wish my children grew up with a piano in their home, as I did.

I learnt  piano for about four years as a child, competed in eisteddfods and took examinations.  My children instead learnt violin (which fascinated me as a child) and our son switched to guitar, now plays electric guitar really well & wants to be in a band soon - he just had a gig tonight, in fact.

Painting: "Tea or Coffee?"
07.05.07 (11:00 pm)   [edit]

In case you're curious as to how the two paintings were framed, here is a (bad) photo of "Tea or Coffee?":

New painting: "Coffee"
07.04.07 (7:02 pm)   [edit]

Here is the Coffee half:

The coffee painting!

These two are framed together, separated only by the mat, in a "Coffee and Tea" art exhibition, now.

Together they are called "Tea or Coffee?".  They're in acrylics on 300gsm watercolour paper (good & thick), matted & framed.  Altogether $390 (Australian dollars).

You may see them larger in my gallery, see link to the left.
