Live music - again
07.27.06 (10:02 am) [edit]
I was recently lucky enough to see musicians performing live, once again - although this time in more humble surroundings - a dingy nightclub! I was brought up not to go to 'pubs', & it still feels rather wicked to me, hehe. Anyhow, if you're Australian & of a reasonable age you'll remember "Johnny Diesel & the Injectors". Diesel, as Mark Lizotte is known, performed live in a local nightclub recently! Wow, he is an incredible guitarist! He has a good strong voice & has great control over it. His feet, while performing, were not more than 4 metres from mine! These photos were taken with an HP mobile 'phone/MP3 player/camera/organiser gadget, so they're a bit low in megapixels. See Diesel's website here.
You can see a Diesel video interview here on Undercover. Diesel's support act was Asa Broomhall, another great guitarist & singer, & he can do things with a harmonica (mouth organ) that I've never heard before! See Asa's website here.
Asa has such a sunny smile, he'd be a happy character to hang around with, I reckon. ................................................ My favourite tblogger, apart from myself, is Janey Godley, who is a Scottish comedienne & author. Check out her entertaining blog here, & tell her BronwynJ sent you!

New art!
07.19.06 (8:59 pm) [edit]
I've been sick for three weeks, a bad cold & cough, but I've finally been going out again over the last few days, in fact I was out four nights in a row recently! I have a new computer nook! It has gorgeous timber panels on the back & sides. We have two cute ponies next door:
I don't think they were supposed to be in the garden, actually, they're little rascals. One of my favourite lunches:
Avocado on buttered multigrain toast, salted. I started a new pastel painting on Saturday, at my local art group:
I worked on it some more today, & it's now almost finished, I think. Our guest artist instructor told me that it reminded her of art by Pierre Bonnard! Another artist told me, years ago, when I was painting with acrylics, that I paint like Matisse! Aren't they lovely & encouraging?! :-)

Why you should love Coldplay - it's in your own best interests!
07.08.06 (7:15 pm) [edit]
CHRIS MARTIN: Coldplay is for people with great taste, intelligence, incredible good lookingness, talent, ability, success, grabbing of life. Coldplay's for people who know what life's about. They're always entertaining. Delightful to talk to. Sweet, charming, incredibly good in bed. Virile. They have incredible success with girls, or boys, or both. They're generally just the world's best citizens. Maybe I'm biased, but I'm definitely right. That's me, in a nutshell! hehe :-) (Quoted from Andrew Denton's interview with Chris Martin, of Coldplay, on the Australian ABC TV "Enough Rope".)

Coldplay Fan
07.06.06 (2:41 pm) [edit]
Yes, I am still thrilled to have seen & heard Coldplay live 12 days ago! You would be thrilled too, if you loved their music to start with, & then felt the atmosphere, excitement, passion, & energy that is Coldplay performing live. Attending a live concert makes the musicians seem so much more human, yet at the same time so inspiring, because they have excelled. I believe that we can all excel, if each day we consistently do something towards our most important goals. The trick is to actually do it, every day. Let's get our priorities right. I found this this morning in my online travels, click here to hear a version of Talk by Coldplay, just be patient while it loads. Here's Chris Martin at Radio Station 99X ("Atlanta's Everything Alternative Radio Station"), along with his playlist:
You can hear him speaking on air by clicking here. Some nasty old gossip which I found here on a New York website: "what's really sad is that this marriage will last two years TOPS and she {Apple} will be from a broken home living in england (where chris will never leave) and usa (where gwyneth will never leave). i've known chris for several years and he ain't living in the us and his high maintenance wife (got knocked up to get married finally..oops!) ain't gonna live in england. no way this will last another 2 years. it will go the route of uma/ethan and jessica/nick (i mean come on, they're over)!! Let's hope Chris & Gwyneth do live happily ever after, despite their different countries of origin. I know, they can come & live in Australia!! Yay me, perfect solution! I have no idea if there is even the smallest smidgeon of truth to any of this Chris Martin gossip, but anyway, found it here.

Pandora - find music like the music you love!
07.04.06 (9:47 pm) [edit]
This evening I discovered Pandora!
"Ever since we started the Music Genome Project, our friends would ask: Can you help me discover more music that I'll like? Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs. We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you." It's like listening to a radio station online, but only of songs & artists similar to the song or artist you ask for. You can vote for each song, by clicking "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" symbols. At the moment I'm listening to Cry Freedom, by The Dave Matthe ws Band, from their album Crash. (Of course, my suggested artist was Coldplay! :-) This morning I dreamt that Chris Martin & I were walking along a beach together. Maybe it was Studland Bay, in Dorset, England?
Check out the fantastic Coldplay wallpaper here, at www.hotandcoldplay.com! I have a gorgeous photo of the blue eyed Chris Martin, along with an excerpt from The Scientist, on my desktop currently. :-)
