Annoying Christians = the Religious Right?
10.29.05 (4:41 pm)   [edit]

I hate how, in a "Christian country" such as Australia, what I call "annoying Christians" insist on separating themselves from the rest of the majority of the population (ie most of the rest of us, the other Australian Christians) as they have in this news story

I believe they're called the 'religious right' in the US.

I find them so irritating & judgemental. I was brought up Christian, used to attend church every week, teach Sunday School as a teenager, got very into religion from about 22 - 30, & now just call myself "Christian" on forms without specifying a denomination, & I no longer go to any church regularly.

Any Christian who just assumes another person is not Christian just because they don't believe & behave exactly as they do is an irritating git, imo.

I do, however, like the idea of meeting with like-minded people, whose company I enjoy, on a regular basis, to be inspired, & to be reminded of priorities - plus it makes for great social networking! :-)

Later edit: according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics2001 Census, at least 68% of Australians were then Christian, 11.7% either did not state their religious affiliation or inadequately described it, 15.5% claim no religion, & 4.9% were a religion other than Christian.

Rain results
10.20.05 (4:26 pm)   [edit]

It's rained lightly over the last few days here, & look what has popped up in my garden:

- the first two photos are of toadstools; the last one is of a taller than usual anthill.  It's funny, the ants here freak out if we have rain over a few days, & start building taller than usual anthills!  :-)

Brainier oldies - & better behaved crims!
10.12.05 (8:00 pm)   [edit]

The rate of cognitive decline is 13% slower in elderly people who eat fish meals two times a week.

"...Previous work has shown that the most important fatty acids in the brain are in the omega-3 class..."

Omega 3 oils not only improve cognitive function; but also behaviour (it reduces violent behaviour in prisoners).

"...The UK Food Standards Agency advises that boys, men and women past reproductive age eat four portions of fish a week, and that women of child-bearing age eat two portions..."

Chinese Manufacturers Exporting Beauty Products Made from Aborted Babies and Skin from Executed Conv
10.04.05 (6:43 pm)   [edit]

"A Chinese manufacturer of injectable collagen for use in cosmetic lip and wrinkle treatments has admitted to a UK news source that the company routinely sources materials from the skin of executed convicts as well as from aborted babies."  Click here for more from lifesite.net.

Shocked?  I've seen hair products at Priceline with a placental ingredient (I don't know which animal/s the placentas come from), see this New Scientist article:  "Early Puberty Linked to Shampoos" .

High traffic blog!
10.01.05 (6:40 pm)   [edit]

Good grief, my blog has had 713 more views in just 3 days!

Obviously I should do the right thing & post now.

I've been to Rockhampton today, Rockhampton in central Queensland, Australia, that is.  The airport really needs to spend more money on cleaning the ceiling, there are even cobwebs there, tsk tsk!

Sudoku!

I bought my first Lovatts Sudoku book today.  Have you all tried to 'play' Sudoku?  There's a daily puzzle, you choose the difficulty level - & you can even time yourself - here at sudoku.com.au .  Once you've played a successful game, you can even add a comment if you like.  Don't know what Sudoku is yet?  It's a game where:

Every digit from 1 to 9 must appear:

  • In each of the columns,
  • in each of the rows,
  • and in each of the nine boxes.

  • Hey, play a game of Sudoku, & let me know what you think!

(For best results, make your picture 300 pixels wide x 260 pixels high.)
